From Freshman Fears to Confident Growth

posted in: Uncategorized 0

This blog narrates my personal journey from freshman year to the present, highlighting how I transformed from feeling overwhelmed by the future to becoming self-assured. Through this blog, my aim is to showcase the most memorable aspects of my college life and how I stepped out of my comfort zone.

Initially, I found myself in a haze as I struggled with my laziness and tendency to lose interest quickly in everything I started. However, my experience at Bosco Institute commenced with theater classes and an opportunity to participate in a street play. This unexpected and exciting endeavor instantly sparked my enthusiasm and added a sense of fun to my early college days. The friendly atmosphere at Bosco, where everyone, from seniors to the Director, greeted you warmly with a smile and wished you good morning, was truly remarkable. It made me feel like I had found the right place. Yet, doubts lingered in my mind. Would this positive environment persist over time, considering my own tendencies? To my pleasant surprise, my apprehensions were proven wrong. Even today, I feel a sense of excitement as I reminisce about moments shared with friends during field trips, rural camps, orientation visits, study tours, dramatic performances, and late-night workshops. Bosco provided me with an incredible experience that unfolded in an organized manner, sustaining my interest and encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone.

Now, I have gained confidence in working effectively in any situation or location. More importantly, I have had the privilege of immersing myself in various cultures, acquiring first-hand knowledge about different places, and engaging with individuals who possess diverse belief systems, rituals, and traditions. I consider myself fortunate to have had such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Jerry Thomas, our Director, for his unwavering support and care. It was heartwarming to witness his personal gesture of bidding us farewell at the station before our trips. I cannot thank my teachers enough, as they have been an invaluable source of guidance, support, and friendship throughout my academic growth. They are truly exceptional intellectuals who provide the best advice and truly understand and nurture their students. And finally, to my caring friends, I will forever cherish the joyful moments we shared, whether inside the classroom, during the rural camp, during our travels, or on the study tour. These memories will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for being part of this wonderful journey, as these two years have been the most captivating and fruitful of my life.
